Issue Subcategory

Low contrast text

User Experience

Users with low vision or impaired contrast sensitivity cannot read the text. This is one of the most common accessibility barriers on the web.

Repro Steps

Open VS Code > Copilot chat > Permission Picker combo box > Observe the issue: “Autopilot (Preview)” text has insufficient color contrast in Light 2026 theme

Actual Result

The “Autopilot (Preview)” text does not meet the minimum required color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background in the Light 2026 theme, making it difficult to read.

Expected Result

The text should meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 (for normal text) against the background to ensure readability for all users.

How to Fix

Darken the text color or lighten/darken the background until the ratio is met. Use WebAIM Contrast Checker to verify. Audit all color themes including dark mode.
